Aging results in the reduction of physical activity level, reduced adaptability to external changes and reduced resistance to various stress by decreasing the functional level of the body. Various aging changes of each exercise capacity such as musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, pulmonary, and neurological system with psychological status were categorized into discussion in this article. These changes should be well informed and then the proper exercise should be recommended. However, these changes in exercise capacity will not be able to generalize because the level of health status over the lifetime can be different even among the elderly of the same age. Therefore, careful approach of exercise prescription is especially recommended through the individual evaluation of exercise capacity in the elderly.
